The Carnival of the Baubles Returns to Ashford – Join the Festivities!
We’re delighted to announce that on Saturday, 22 November, Ashford Town Centre will once again come alive with the vibrant Carnival of the Baubles! Thousands are expected to line the streets as we kick off the festive season with a spectacular lantern parade, illuminating the town centre and bringing the community together in celebration.
After last year’s event was cut short by Storm Bert, we’re determined to make this year’s carnival more magical than ever. There’s a twist to this year’s festivities: the parade route has been reversed! The procession will begin at 5pm from the Lower High Street, culminating in a grand finale outside The Ashford Cinema at Elwick Place.
Leading the parade is a giant Firebird, spraying sparks from its beak and guiding schools, local groups, and businesses through the heart of Ashford. The theme for 2025 is “Ashford – The Place That Makes Us.” Creative experts Emergency Exit Arts, known for their work at Glastonbury and The Lord Mayor’s Show, are collaborating with local favourite Made In Ashford to bring the theme to life. Preparations are already underway, and we can’t wait for you to see the lanterns on display!
Fancy getting involved? Join the free lantern making workshops at the pop-up Bauble Maker Space in County Square, where you can also preview this year’s creations. Workshop dates are:

Book your workshop session here. If you’re unable to attend a workshop, you’re welcome to make your own lantern at home and bring it along on the day!
That’s not all – the carnival atmosphere continues throughout the day with the St Mary’s Christmas Fayre, a Christmas makers market, and live performances at the Bandstand and Elwick Place. There’s something for the whole family to enjoy.
